Small whistling duck

These ducks are found in freshwater bodies of water from Pakistan in the west to the islands of Indonesia in the east. Namely in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, southern China, Vietnam.

The global population is estimated to range from 2 to 20 million individuals.

Birds prefer to group in large flocks, where there can be up to several thousand individuals. They settle in holes in tree trunks, in old nests of other birds, or on low branches. Lay 6 to 12 eggs.
